Medium (<100kV) And High Voltage (<345kV) Substations

We design medium and high voltage substations. We also provide on-site consultation with owners and contractors throughout the design, construction, and commissioning process. Our role includes determining substation capacity and conferring with your local utility company to verify there is adequate sourcing available from them. Specific CTC services to our client

The conceptual design determines the required capacity configuration and layout to fit your use. Our process includes:

Deciding the power source
Required Voltage
Whether on-site generation is required
What type of maintenance will be needed
Underground versus overhead service
The reliability required by the sites function

The Pre-Purchase Package of major, long lead equipment typically is the next step. This may include:

The incoming breaker and its associated potential and current transformers
Station transformers
Voltage regulators
Secondary circuit breakers and their associated protection
Any necessary steel structures

The contruction package follows. It includes:

A recommended bidders list
Bidding documents, including drawings and specifications consistent with the CSI format and your front-end sections
Budgeting and schedule updates
Weekly progress visits and reports
A punch list when the project is nearing competition

the commissioning package is compiled after the project is completed

and the local utility's System Protection personnel have reviewed and approved the end result. We then provide the following service

Calculations, time current curves and philosophy of the relaying protection
The actual relay settings after acceptance by System Protection, as applicable
A third-party testing specification will be provided for the purpose of applying the relay settings computed above the calibration of those elements and the verification of the functionality of the protection
Weekly progress visits and reports
A punch list when the project is nearing competition

The Turnover Package is a critical component of CTC's substation projects.

It involves a walk through and training session with your staff carried out by our engineers. We help your employees become familiar with the new installation's equipment and operation. we answer questions and we focus on the added level of safety that is part of CTC's conceptual designs. Our clients often videotape these briefing sessions to serve as a permanent educational resource. Our turnover package is designed so that any updates or revisions can be carried out with the full documentation in hand. these include:
